Over the last 8 years Maria has spent a considerable amount of time working on various humanitarian projects in Cambodia. Maria began working with a small project, the Foundation for Water and Education Cambodia.
This group (4 people) fund raised and built over 400 wells in rural areas in Siem Reap Province and continue to build more this year. As an ex-principal (Seoul International) Maria’s interest has always centred on education especially for marginalised groups. Cambodia offered an opportunity to serve in this area. Her education work is centred around a Government Middle School in areas such as computer skills, basic school needs, retention of students and sponsorship of various girls including her medical student. It is through her outreach work that Maria discovered Days for Girls (DFG) .
Last year Maria was appointed DFG Regional Representative for Cambodia, a voluntary position that led to some incredible experiences and challenges.
