Bayside Community Singing

Garden Designfest 2026: Phil Mortimer reported that 11 gardens have been confirmed and up tp 12 more may be possible. The event is managed by our club and RC Kew. The main charity receipient will be Family Life. Since its inception the Garden Designfest has raised over $8000.

Firbank Grammar Careers Day: to be hel in March next year,. Volunteers (including family and friends) needed, contact Chistina Rearick. More details to follow.

Saving Blister Packs from Landfill

For some time now we have had a collection box for blister packs at our meetings without really knowing the full story behind this unique recycling process. Jason Rijnbeek gave us a fascinating insight into the work of Pharmacycle.

Cup Day Bunnings BBQ

'Flat out' would be the best description of our Cup Day BBQ at Bunnings Moorabbin. Gerry Lambourne was kept busy all day, racing to get additional supplies of sausages, bread and onions, and the BBQ chefs had their noses down at the hotplate. Thank you to all who helped. Net proceeds for the day were more than $1600.

Our Melbourne Cup Celebration

That inimitable pair Peter Killey and Meg Ryan, returned to our Club again for our traditional Melbourne Cup Celebration and entertained us with racing talk and ‘fashions on the field’.

Bayside Rotary Radio Show October 21st

In a 'first' for our show we interiewed an overseas guest. Geoff Dobbs talked with Adrian Smith from St Columb Rotary in Cornwall about his remarkble work with disadvantaged school students in Uganda. Gerry Lambourne interviewed Wendy Stirling from Port Phillip Rotary about their work with their Interact Club at The MacRobertson Girls High School. Classic Exotic & Modern Car Show and Shitbox Rally

We have donated $500 to the 'Bright Old Sparks' team (Rudi Ota and Bryan Drummond) who will be taking part in the Shitbox Rally in October.  The Rally raises money for the Cancer Council.

The Highlands Foundation

Brighton North Rotary members joined a team of volunteers on Saturday to pack items for a container organised by the Highlands Foundation to go to Papua New Guinea early next year with items for mothers and babies.

Bayside Community Singing

We were delighted to host many of our past participants, plus new members at our first Bayside Community Singing session at our new venue - Hampton Seniors Centre on Sunday 7 September.  We sang and danced our way through a great afternoon together!  We look forward to welcoming everyone again next month on Sunday 05 October.

Donations for BayCISS

Please bring grocery items to donate to BayCISS to our meeting on Thursday 4 September for collection.
Also, if you have a lemon tree in abundance, bring along some lemons too!

Classic, Exotic and Modern Car Show at RBYC

Volunteers Needed!  We have been asked to help out at the Classic, Exotic & Modern Car Show at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club on Sunday 21st September, 10am-3pm. 

Volunteer jobs (in approximately two hour shifts) will include welcoming, directing and counting visitors. The money raised will go to the Cancer Council via the "Bright Old Sparks" team doing the Shitbox Rally in October. The Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 15th year. 

Please let Anne Cobham know if you are available to assist on the day.

Bayside Community Singing

The next Bayside Community Singing session will be held on Sunday 5 October at the Hampton Seniors Centre, 14 Service St, Hampton from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.  We will be singing 60s, 70s and 80s songs...and we can dance too! Looking forward to a great afternoon - join us!

The 39 Steps

Are you interested in seeing the play The 39 Steps? If you are, join us on Thursday, 2 October, 7:00pm at the Comedy Theatre, 240 Exhibition Street, Melbourne. Tickets are $70 per person (concession/seniors group booking rate) and are in the Dress Circle, Row E.  Let Anne or Alison know by 25 August how many tickets you want. Attendees will be advised how to pay. 

It looks like it will be fun, as it has been described: Mix Alfred Hitchcock’s classic spy thriller with a dash of Monty Python-style chaos, and you get THE 39 STEPS

The Highlands Foundation

We are supporting the Highlands Foundation which provides Mother and Baby Packs for distribution in Papua New Guinea. The Mother and Baby Pack Project has been instrumental in reducing infant pneumonia and other illnesses by improving hygiene and providing warmth.

Beach clean up

Work with other Club members as we join with the Brighton Beach Patrol to remove rubbish from the beach area around the Royal Brighton Yacht Club and the Baths on Sunday 3rd August from 9-10am.
