Everyone had their dancing shoes on last Saturday night at our Brighton Town Hall Dance!

Cr Laurie Evans and his wife Jenny were welcomed by President Kate, to her first meeting as our President.  The Mayor of Bayside City Council then gave the members some insight into the Council's plans for our wonderful city.

Our Changover evening at Kingston Heath Golf Club was a great success!  A wonderful venue, food and some surprises!

Family, friends and members shared a great evening!

President Russell chose Brighton North's Changeover dinner to award a Paul Harris Fellow recognition to two members.

Board members presented a summary of the Club's achievements, through each of their committees, for all to reflect.

President Russell will also capture the highlights of his year, at this week's Changeover Dinner at Kingston Heath Golf Club.

The Nganambala School garden goes from strength to strength.

Eighteen thousand Rotarians, including twenty-nine members and partners from Brighton North, attended last week's Rotary International Convention in Sydney.  It was a great event and Sydney shone for all of us, giving our overseas guests a lasting impression of a wonderful country that is Australia!

Our own member Christina introduced her guests US Rotarians, Nikki Scott (Incoming DG) from Chicago and Janet Haas from Livinia, Michigan.

What began in 2000 is still a favourite event in our calendar.  “Judge” Phil Rowell, gowned and wigged and Mr Associate, John Cudmore, reminded us, the jurors, to consider the evidence that is admissible in court and that the burden of proof, on the balance of probabilities, is not beyond reasonable doubt.

This evening Dale spoke about “Matters before the Courts” from a police perspective - which was appropriate as we embarked on another 'Consider Your Verdict' evening, where members give their 'verdict' on previously heard cases presented to us by Phil Rowell.

President Russell welcomed 28 members and 12 partners, friends and Rotarians, including Police Mentoree, Acting Inspector Dale Johnstone, and  US Rotarians Nikki Scott and Janet Haas.

Last Wednesday was a very busy meeting - some updates for those unable to attend.

Dale Johnstone our police mentoree will attend Rotary on Wed 28May, to speak about his experiences in court from a policeman’s point of view.  This will be prior to the 'Consider Your Verdict' session.  This is Dale's last official visit in his role as ‘police mentoree’.

At the start of the meeting President Russell called Garry Bradd forward to present him with a Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. This prestigeous award was awarded to Garry by Rotary International, for his long and continued support of the Rotary Foundation – well done Garry!  

Dr Saunders is the Clinical director and founder of Blamey Saunders Hears a company formed for social good.  She has a PhD in Audiology and is a Churchill Fellow.

Last Wednesday evening our meeting, along with members of Brighton Beach Rotary, was held at the Walter + Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research where we learnt about the research that is carried out, but especially into malaria, in light of Rotary's involvement through Rotary Against Malaria (RAM)

Alison - Chair of our Youth committee would like members to welcome the four students who attended the March RYPEN camp to our meeting.  They will give a 2-3 minute talk about their experience.  There are two boys from Brighton Secondary College - Ryan and Jordan and two girls Star of Sea - Shannen & Grace.  

Brighton North Rotary assisted BCC by preparing lunch for 130+ students and staff at the Brighton Town Hall on Friday 16May14.

Last night guests set their feet dancing to the lively music of SELECT!

A great time was had by all who attended - especially those with the great Rock & Roll moves!!

Whilst Peter Skelton challenged our knowledge, other members contributed with fun and games!

And the winners are.....Jim Mitchell and his crew.  Well done!
