'Light Up Rotary' is the new focus for our D9800, District Assembly in 2014.

It is opportune that May is 'Australian Rotary Health' month with our Club having run the Mental Health Forum and also holding our meeting on Wednesday 14May at the Walter & Eliza Institute to hear about their research into malaria.

On Wednesday evening Brighton North Rotary, in conjunction with Brighton Beach Rotary and Bayside City Council hosted a Mental Health Forum at Brighton Town Hall.

The speakers were both informative and encouraging with explaining their work with people with a mental illness.

At Brighton North's working bee at Camp Getaway in March, it was noticed that a concrete ramp was needed for wheelchair access to the games room.  Three members completed this project over the weekend.

Members were hosted by the staff at Rylands for this week's meeting.

Sabu is a remote & arid island off east Indonesia, which the RC Beaumaris has been involved with for several years.  Showing their ‘versatility’ the visitors spoke on various aspects of the Sabu Island projects particularly the water wells.

President Russell welcomed the team from RC Beaumaris – President Bob McArthur, President Elect Ken Miram, PP Fred Hoffman, Geoff Stockdale, John Manks & Russ Phillips, here to update us on the Sabu Island projects in which RCBN is participating.

Dr David Dangerfield is an Australian-based health professional. David is trained as a Urologist and has a practice located in Armadale.

President Russell opened the meeting and welcomed a large number of guests, including the guest speaker Mr David Dangerfield, inductee Malcolm Baird and wife Elizabeth, Richard Warner, and regular partners and friends Petra, Di, Jan, Janice, Kaye, Bill and Trevor.

The club golf trip this year was held on the Mornington Peninsula staying at the new Portsea Golf Club Resort.

A very good attendance of members and a number of guests were present for an informative and enjoyable meeting.

Peter Killey (heading up Foundation this year) proudly announced that Brighton North has supported  Foundation's END POLIO NOW campagn with a further donation of $1,400

Brighton North Rotary members who had hosted the team all attended their farewell.

Sunday 23March2014 saw Brighton North Rotary once again in selfless action to assist a great cause.

Due to the large number of members away, this week’s guest speaker was postponed to a later date.  Twenty-one people still made a lot of noise, had lots of laughs, as well as an insightful video screened.
