Bayspeak 2025 Round Two

The second round of Bayspeak 2025, was held on Tuesday, May 13th, hosted by Brighton Grammar School.The MC was Colleen d'Offay (Brighton RC). The four schools competing were Caulfield Grammar, St. Leonards College, Beaumaris Secondary College and Brighton Grammar.

At last week's meeting, Colleen d'Offay from Brighton Rotary told us about the work and achievements of Yimba Uganda, a remarkable organisation to which Brighton Rotary have given generous support.
Brighton Rotary Mock Interviews

Brighton Rotary are conducting mock interviews at Brighton Secondary College on Wednesday May14th and 21st. We should give them help as we don’t have a program of our own. A Working With Children card is required.A training video will be available on Monday May12th. It runs for 30 minutes or it can also be recorded. Please contact Christina Rearick if you can help.

Bayspeak - Round One

The first round of Bayspeak, our high-profile public speaking competition for secondary schools, will take place on Tuesday May 6th at Mentone Girls Grammar School. The schools represented will be St. Bede's College, Kilbreda College and Mentone Girls Grammar. Bayspeak is organised and supported by Brighton, Sandringham and Brighton North Rotary Clubs.

'Artificial Intelligence is Dangerous' - the Brighton Grammar/Firbank Grammar Debate

Last week’s meeting featured the annual debating competition between Firbank Grammar and Brighton Grammar. Over the years that we have hosted this event, we have come to expect a high-standard debate between the two schools and this year the debaters again met our expectations.

'Lest We Forget': Phil Wheatley's ANZAC Day Presentation

In honour of ANZAC Day, at last week’s meeting, Phil Wheatley gave us an enthralling presentation on his father’s service in the Royal Air Force in World War 2.
Movie Night Special

We met at the renovated Palace Church Street Cinema in relaxed seating on Thursday to see 'The Correspondent' which is based on the true story of Australian journalist Peter Greste's shocking imprisonment in Egypt in 2013 and the time and effort in challenging an authoritarian power for him to regain his freedom.
