Our guest speaker Louise Godfrey of Sri Yoga and Meditation informed us of the benifits of yoga for health and healing.  Traditionally yoga was taught 1:1 for men only until the 1960's. Louise emphasised that yoga is about the mind, not postures with the teacher adapting to meet client needs.

Over eighty people attended the joyful celebration of our club’s 40^th Anniversary  on Thursday April 3^rd including current members, past members, Past Presidents, and partners.

Beach Patrol: we are considering helping beach patrol 3186 The first Sunday morning of each month the group picks ups rubbish for one hour starting from Brighton Baths . They provide gloves and there is a limited supply of grabbing sticks. If you are interested, contact Christina Rearick  christinamrearick@gmail.com or text 0478408839. You will not be required to help every month or register but they like to know roughly how many are coming each month.

Bayspeak is a public speaking competition for high school students, run by the Rotary Clubs of Brighton, Sandringham and Brighton North during May and June.. Volunteers are needed to assist with adjudication and photography. The adjudication role does not require any experience and is likley to be a 'back up' role only. Small Comforts from Community (SCFC) project,  provides care bags and clothing to public hospital mental health units of The Alfred, Box Hill’s Upton House, St Vincents Melbourne and Royal Melbourne..

The next BrightOn Community Singing event will be on Sunday, April 6th, 2 - 4 pm  at St Stephens Church, 109, North Rd, Brighton. 

At last week's stimulating club forum, Russell Brewer reported on the results of the recent 'Fit for Purpose' survey and highlighted areas for possible change. 22 out of 36 active members responded to the survey.

Garden DesignFest total profit was $48,400. This sum is shared equally between our club and Kew Rotary. Our club will donate $5000 to Impact for Women as the principal charity for GDF 2024.

Last Week's Meeting: members joined with Brighton Rotary at Hampton RSL to hear Zoe Daniel talk about her career, and experience as  Independent Member for Goldstein. We also heard a presentation from two local students who had attended the final of the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) in Canberra.

Last week, in what must be a club 'first', members celebrated the arrival of Amrit and Saira's son Ayaan, in the company of family and friends. Our youngest and smallest Rotarian was very well-behaved and appropriately dressed in a tee shirt that proudly proclaimed him a 'Future Rotarian'.

Club Forum Thursday March 13th (at Picasso's in Hampton St.): all members are strongly encouraged to attend this Forum, where we will discuss the future direction of the club in the light of the 'Fit for Purpose' review and survey coordinated by Russell Brewer. Your input is welcome and essential!
