Resilience First Aid

Brighton North Rotary is providing ten places for professionals - teachers, youth workers, social workers, school nurses, student well-being staff - and others who work with adolescents to complete an accredited and certified two-day workshop in Resilience First Aid.

Building up resilience skills in adolescents will protect against mental illness such as depression and anxiety. The Resilience First Aid program is accredited by Suicide Prevention Australia and the Australian Counselling Association and has been peer-reviewed.

The program will be based at Travancore School, 50 Flemington Street, Travancore on January 28th and February 5th 2026. Participants have been selected by the principal of Travancore School and will include invited representatives from three secondary colleges in Brighton North Rotary’s region (Beaumaris SC, Sandringham SC and Brighton SC). Travancore School is a Department of Education and Training school partnering with the Royal Children’s Hospital Mental Health Service and Orygen Specialist Program.

The program is designed to put mental health champions in place who actively boost the resilience and mental health in their communities. It will build both personal resilience and peer support skills, taking a pro-active approach to mental health first aid.
