Rotary Brighton North Computers for Nepal

Next >

This project will deliver a computer training program for girls who have been rescued from human trafficking and are currently receiving shelter, care, and support in a Safe Home. Having endured exploitation and loss of opportunity, these daughters often face stigma and limited options for rebuilding their lives. By providing structured digital literacy and vocational training, we will empower them with practical skills in computer use, communication, and safe online engagement—tools that are essential for pursuing education, employment, or entrepreneurial pathways.

Beyond technical knowledge, the program will help restore dignity, confidence, and hope, enabling the girls to envision a future free from exploitation. In equipping them to reintegrate into society with independence and resilience, the project directly strengthens Every Daughter Matters’ mission to not only rescue but also restore and empower daughters to thrive in safety.

What will be done?

Every Daughter Matters Ltd (EDM), in partnership with the in-country Nepal partner Aashish Social Service Nepal (ASSN) and Rotary Club Dhulikhel, will establish a Computer Training Program at its Safe Home for young women rescued from human trafficking. Over the course of twelve months, two six-month training cycles will be delivered, equipping these young women with both basic and advanced digital literacy skills. The project will also set up a small computer lab (five computers, supporting equipment, and a dedicated trainer) at the Safe Home for ongoing training.

Why is it being done?

Rescued girls currently receive social development and vocational (sewing-cutting) training at the safe homes. While these are valuable, skills, digital literacy is essential for access to meaningful employment and further education opportunities. Computers and technology are integrated into nearly every workplace. Without these skills, survivors remain at a disadvantage, limiting their options for reintegration and independence.

By offering structured computer training, the project will:

  • Increase employability and open doors to office, education, and service-sector administration jobs.
  • Boost self-confidence and independence, helping survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and skills.
  • Provide sustainable skills that align with modern workforce demands, ensuring long-term benefit beyond immediate recovery.

How will it be done?

  • Course Design & Curriculum: A 6-month curriculum, developed with computer trainers, will cover hardware/software basics, internet use, email, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and CV writing.
  • Teacher Recruitment: ASSN will hire a dedicated computer instructor to deliver classes six days a week.
  • Computer Lab Setup: Five computers and necessary infrastructure will be purchased and installed at the Safe Home.
  • Training Delivery: The program will run twice a year (two cohorts), ensuring more rescued daughters can participate.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Attendance, skill assessments, and participant feedback will be tracked by in-country partner ASSN to measure progress and outcomes.
