Model United Nations Assembly

Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) is a youth program that simulates the United Nations to help senior high school students learn about international relations and develop public speaking and debating skills.

Students represent a specific UN country and debate global issues from that country's perspective, fostering an understanding of other nations and the UN's workings. They research resolutions, form alliances, and practice negotiation and diplomatic skills.

The program aims to educate students on the United Nations, develop their public speaking and debating abilities, and build an appreciation for other cultures and perspectives.

Participants are assigned a country and must research its government, policies, and stance on issues to effectively represent it. Students debate resolutions on current world issues, which are based on actual UN debates and proposals from the teams themselves.

The skills developed include research, public speaking, debating, negotiation, and diplomacy. MUNA events are typically held over a weekend and are judged and chaired by Rotarians.
