Brighton North Rotary Weekly Meeting, 6.30pm 15th November 2018.

President Meg Ryan welcomed members, and guests, students, parents, and teachers from Brighton Primary School, and Christina’s cousin Cathy.

Meg then introduced the Chairperson for the evening, Alison Abbott.

Christina Rearick thanked all involved in achieving great results with the reading program.

One student has developed greatly to achieve level 16.

Three Brighton Primary School students spoke.

Mateo said Rotary helps me read very well and it feels like I’m reading at home outside the classroom, and he enjoys hearing stories related from the Rotary people.

Michelangelo said Rotary has helped him with words he didn’t know

Finn then read his essay on the Rotary four-way test, including the subject of how to identify and deal with “fake news”

Is it True, fair, of Good Will, and beneficial to all?

Finn said that only 30% of people trust the media, and we should always question

sources of information and use our judgement and reason.

Fake news doesn’t build good will, or friendships.
