Why You Should Keep a Journal

Ingrid started her career as a Primary school teacher but was drawn to writing. She discovered that putting down her emotions on the page was cathartic and that it helped her well-being. This discovery led her to start a journal writing group in 2019 which has since developed into a full-time business.

Ingrid believes that keeping a personal journal can be of great benefit to anyone. Research suggests that we each have 60 – 80,000 thoughts a day; keeping a journal helps us to refine and focus our thoughts and ideas more clearly. It also activates both sides of our brains.

There are also emotional benefits. Keeping a personal journal can help to reduce sadness and avoid the ‘self-sabotage’ caused by negative emotions and thoughts, so enhancing well-being. We can gain clarity and understanding of the issues that affect us. Cost-effective therapy!

How do you get started? You don’t need a fancy notebook and if at any time you don’t like what you’ve written – shred it!

Keeping a journal isn’t a new idea, but Ingrid’s approach is unique and offers many benefits.
