Christmas Party

The Christmas Party

There were so many members and their partners present this week that we filled the upstairs dining room, all dressed in Christmas colours, hats and flashing lights worn in all sorts of strange places. Before the meeting got under way, we enjoyed a glass of bubbles and an opportunity to do some socialising.

President Sue, resplendent in red with a smart Christmas hat, thanked everyone for coming and joining in the festivities. She shared with us her letter to Santa and sadly, I feel, will be buying her own Christmas presents.

Welcome Manuel

We welcome Manuel Fernandez as a new member to Brighton North Rotary Club. President Sue inducted Manuel, and he will join the Marketing Committee for the remainder of the Rotary year. He holds the classification of Business Coach and his mentor will be David Raby. Manuel was joined by his wife, Renetia. We welcome Manuel into the club.

 Paul Harris Fellow Double Sapphire

Congratulations go to Virginia Turner, already a Paul Harris Fellow with Sapphire, on being awarded another; now a Paul Harris Fellow Double Sapphire. This is in acknowledgement of her donations in excess of $3000 to the Rotary Foundation. She has been a great supporter of the Rotary Foundation both financially and through her actions. The Brighton North Rotary Club congratulates Virginia on this recognition by the Rotary Foundation.

Christmas Fellowship

Christmas presents for the children of Family Life were placed under the Christmas Tree, then we got into the Christmas spirit, singing some carols, dining on turkey and pudding and enjoying the company of our good friends in Rotary.

Thank you to Jon B. for the gift of wine to share with the news that he and his wife, Louise, will soon be grandparents.

Then, to surprise us all Santa arrived. But why did he only want the ladies to sit on his lap, Oh... and Jeff T? You’ll find the answer to that question in the photos below. The Sergeant cashed in on the arrangement and made a good deal of money from Santa’s so called "lady-friends".

And then there was time for socialising.

Next time we meet again will be Wednesday 20 January for a fellowship meeting.

President Sue closed the meeting, wishing us all a safe and happy Christmas with family and friends.
