Reports:

  • Glennie reported that the Club has received a thank you note from Kathy for members’ support following the funeral of her partner, Sandy. Kathy will be on leave of absence until end of October, during which time Neil Myhre will be Acting Vocational Director.
  • Lyn is looking for volunteers to help with BBQ for the Sea Scouts function on 15th October.
  • Lyn also asked for help on Tuesday 27th September and Wednesday 28th September, 2pm for 1.5 to 2 hours when the Club will be canvassing retail shops in Church Street and Martin Street looking for sponsors for our major Art in Tune event early next year. Contact Ian Lawrence via mobile if you can help.
  • Jeff Taylor visited our Interact Club recently and learned that the students are well advanced in their fundraising activities to finance their scheme to purchase headphones and ipods for patients at the Dementia Day centre in Murphy Street.
  • Jeff Taylor and Judy Carruthers attended a recent Council Tourism Conference and presented material on both the Art in Tune and Garden Design Fest programs.
  • Russell talked about resourcing of the Garden Design Fest and advised that we are short of volunteers on Sunday 13th November on Mornington Peninsula, and on Saturday 19th November in Bendigo area. Lots of members are working very hard on this important event, so if you haven’t yet volunteered, please contact Russell.
  • Following some unexpected cancellations, Garry Bradd is looking for a few more groups for our October golf day. Can anyone help?
  • Richard reported on the Council grant we have won for our community garden project.

Some news captured during the dinner break !!

Talking about Jeff’s achievements, last week he defeated over 100 other golfers to win the 2016 Victorian Veterans Golf Association Championship. He was also a member of the winning teams event. Well done, Jeff !
