Brighton North Rotary has a historical connection with the playground, it being the Club's first major project in the local community.  It was opened in March 1994 by the then Mayor Cr Barry Henderson, also a past member of Brighton North Rotary.

The Club was consulted regarding the redevelopment by Bayside City Council.  Members and the Bayside community who regularly used the playground will be delighted when it reopens near the end of September 2018.
