Marg advised the children were very happy to participate in the program, with noticeable improvement in enthusiasm and competency in reading.

The teachers commented that:-

• The volunteer showed wonderful strength by building a warm rapport very quickly, even with students who had little English and from very different cultural backgrounds.
• It allowed 1:1 time making the child feel important, talking to them about the book

• The volunteer always commented on the childs progress and gave feedback after each session

The Students offered these thoughts:-

• I like it and I think it has helped my reading and I feel more confident.
• It worked well, I slowed down a bit, stopped at full stops and used expression.
• I read to him and he reads to me.
• I can't read English very well, she taught me how to say the words
• I like it because she spends special time with me
