The Rotary Club of Wanganui received its charter on 14 July 1924 some 20 years after the Rotary movement began by Paul H Harris in Chicago.  By 1921 the first two clubs were formed in New Zealand, one in Wellington on 7 June and then Auckland on 13 June.
