Announcements:
Gerry Lambourne introduced his childhood friend, Rick Atkinson from Brisbane
The Board Meeting will be held at Roy Bird’s home, on Monday 20th January.
Save the Date – 8-10th March, Camp Getaway Fellowship and Community weekend.  Accommodation on site at Axedale and caravans also welcome
The inbound GSE team coming in Feb and March this year is from Germany.    
Kate Strain would like us to support Heart Kids for children with heart disease, by attending a dinner at Docklands on Friday Feb 7th – tickets are $100/head.
Next week’s speaker is Neville John, a member of Melbourne Central Sunrise RC, and the District Youth Programs Director.  Alison and Phil Rowell encourage you to attend and support Neville.
Virginia shared with us that the RI Theme for 2014 is “Light Up Rotary”  “How you Light Up Rotary is up to you.  You know where you are strong, you know what your community needs, and you know how you can help.”,
Committee Reports:
Fellowship – the Rotary on the Beach night on 29th Jan will be held at the same place as last year – watch out for our trailer on the beach.  Price per head is $15, for meat and salads.  BYO everything else, including chairs.
International – Rotary’s influence on the eradication of polio has seen the number of countries where polio is present, reduce from 100 countries in the 1980’s to just four today – Pakistan, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Chad.  We are getting close to the end!
Youth – Brighton Secondary College sent a letter of thanks following the student awards night.  Our RYLA candidate currently in Cambodia is doing it tough!   The Youth Sailing program is coming up, from 23-25th Jan.  The Beed/Taylors are hosting two young sailors, and will possibly call for Rotarians to help entertain them at their home on Friday 24th.
Community – the Brighton Town Hall has been booked for the Mental Health Forum to be held on Wed 30th April.
Fundraising – the next event is the Town Hall Dance on 15th Feb where volunteers will be needed on the night.

The Hole in One event will be run from the end of Feb for four weeks, and will also need volunteers.
The 20th Anniversary of the opening of the RCBN Shipwreck playground, at the end of North Rd is on 20March14 – we should celebrate this event.

The evening closed with Peter inviting Rotarians present to inspect his car, parked outside the Yacht Club venue.
