Meet President Anne Cobham
Anne grew up in Adelaide with her parents, five brothers and one sister. After leaving school, she joined the Adelaide Advertiser newspaper where she trained and worked as a journalist, mainly covering court cases.
She moved to Melbourne in her twenties and joined BHP where, over the next 22 years she saw many changes in the company and worked in various sections of the organisation mainly in communications. She was given the opportunity to travel to some of the Company's operations overseas and in Australia including Chile, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Western Australia and Tasmania. Her last few years at BHP were spent working on the Company's websites (internal and external) as content manager.
After leaving BHP she was the Melbourne Volunteer Coordinator for Delta Therapy Dogs, an organisation which arranged for dogs to visit people in nursing homes. She has also volunteered with the National Trust as a guide at Rippon Lea house in Elsternwick.
Anne enjoys playing golf - by her own admission not very well - and has recently taken up lawn bowls.
Seeing it as an opportunity to broaden her volunteering experience Anne joined Brighton North Rotary and has worked on various Club projects including Garden DesignFest. She also visited Cambodia as part of a World of Difference tour in January 2024.
