The Highlands Foundation

Infection following birth is the major cause of maternal mortality and hypothermia a major cause of infant mortality. Providing basic supplies such as towels, soap, underwear and pads improves hygiene and helps reduce the chance of infection.

Papua New Guinea’s maternal and infant death rates are amongst the highest in the world. This is due to inadequate prenatal and postnatal care and inadequate birthing facilities; especially in many of the remote villages where health facilities are sparse.  Find out more at https://www.highlandsfoundation.org.au/
