Bayside Concert for Ukraine Displaced Persons

The war in Ukraine has caused a humanitarian crisis with the United Nations reporting 10 to 12 million persons, mostly women and children fleeing the war zones, many into neighbouring countries.

Rotary Clubs in Australia have combined with the Australian Federation of Ukraine Organizations (AFUO) and created the Ukraine Crisis Appeal  https://www.ukrainecrisisappeal.org/  to help raise funds so as to provide displaced persons with essential items such as water, food, shelter, medicine and clothing. The Bayside Rotary Clubs of Brighton North, Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham and Beaumaris have combined with St Leonard’s College and the AFUO to plan a Concert event on Sunday 23 Oct 2.30pm at the St Leonard’s School Concert Hall, 163 South Rd Brighton East.

Concert Artists

Violinist - Markin Malenychenko - has been described as “an artist of patrician sensibility, spectacular technique”  A principal 1st violinist with Melb Chamber Orchestra. Performed in 17 Countries including solo performances. In 2013 he was selected to perform in a quartet at the US Capital for the inaugural Luncheon at Barack Obama’s Presidential Inauguration. A truly beautiful performer.

Lowicz – Polish Vocal Dance Ensemble - boasts a vibrant and enthusiastic group of Polish and Australian youth, working in the practice and promotion of Polish folk culture to a broader multicultural Australian audience. They have a repertoire of both national and regional songs with captivating dances, rich costumes and orchestral music. The group has been entertaining audiences for 45 yrs at countless festivals.

The Lost Clog – Lithuanian Folk Music – which has passed down through generations and telling stories of archaic Lithuanian life, celebrating harvest, love, talking horses, dancing goats, amorous toads, drunken sparrows and much more. Vibrant and curious entertainment.

Lehenda – Ukraine Dance Company - Up to 20+ dancers who embody the soul of Ukraine, strength, passion, beauty and grace along with Cossack dancers, which combine to give and reflect a contagious energy of colour and spirit.
